Best Outdoor Locations | PNW Family Photos

The Best Outdoor Photography Locations near Seattle WA!

If you’re planning a photography session with me as your motherhood photographer and you want to be outdoors we will need to pick the best location for YOU. My lifestyle photography captures your connection wherever we photograph your family. These following outdoor locations in the greater Seattle area are perfect for maternity photography, raw motherhood sessions and capturing your family photos any time of the year in the PNW.

PNW Locations for Maternity Photography, Motherhood sessions or Family Photos

1.) North Bend, Mt. Si. This is hands down one of my favorite locations for your photography session. Located just 30 mins from Seattle, this North Bend field creates an epic backdrop any time of the year. This photography location offers a large open field where the grass changes throughout the year. There are trees surrounding the field and Mt. Si stands proudly in the background. The sun sets behind the trees for beautiful golden hour light and then highlighting the gorgeous mountain. As an expert photographer with lighting we can take advantage of the entire field exploring with your toddler or kids! During our sunny days I absolutely LOVE this North Bend photoshoot location for golden hour/sunset sessions. You will probably get to see this fields primary residents, a large group of Elks. Ready to start planning your maternity session?
Also located in North Bend, just down the road from the field above is this river location for those who want to capture both water and the mounatin behind them!
2.) Do you like long walks on the beach? Me too! The beach is a great outdoor location for family photos because the kids can run and explore. For pregnancy photography I LOVE when pregnant mamas are brave enough to get in the water. On the west coast, the beach is perfect for a sunset/golden hour session. There are plenty of beaches to choose from. All along the Puget Sound you can find a beach , like Richmond Beach in Shoreline Washington, Mukilteo Beach is further north or Deception Pass state park in Oak Harbor near the San Juan islands. Golden Gardens in Ballard has great sand and Edmonds Beach will provide those iconic ferries in the background! Wondering What to Wear?
3.) Beautiful rolling hills with tall tan grass during late summer through winter, this photography location in Woodinville is a beautiful option. This photoshoot location is also an off leash large dog park so if you have a fur baby you want to include this is a great option. With tall evergreen trees this location is great during the morning or evening hours.

4.) If you are near the East side, Kirkland/ Juanita has multiple park options that show water, flowers and fields. I love the diversity of this area. Two parks, Juanita bay and Juanita Beach are connected by a walking bridge you can have a beach, lots of wildlife from the nature preserve, trees and a field with different flowers throughout the year.

5.) Discovery Park in Seattle is a classic location many photographers love. This park is large and diverse. Trees, fields, tall grass, ferns, a beach with a lighthouse. Wonderful for any time of the day, especially sunset.

6.) Let’s choose a location that’s special to you and your story! It’s always extra special and helps create comfort when we pick a location you already know you love. This is not just a photoshoot, it’s your story and legacy as a family. As a professional photographer I will confidently guide you through prompts and poses capturing not only your connection but also the stunning environment to deliver a full story in your gallery.

I understand having a location you love can make for some epic images and set the energy to have the best experience. In the PNW we only have a couple of months where we can safely count on good weather for an outdoor photoshoot. Thankfully, a lot of the rain in the Pacific Northwest is light and on/off. If you do not want to risk getting rained on, a studio is always a great option. If you are set on having an outdoor experience I encourage you to decide what backgrounds you love the most for example, mountains, beach, field, or lake locations.
